I am doing my best to rectify this now :)Wildhermithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12055756131125320451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6144684224323383686.post-27493407222159320652008-08-02T19:31:00.000-07:002008-08-02T19:31:00.000-07:00Ack, sorry, dumb me! Silly me.

It comes from playing a hunter for too long as my main DPS class. Sorry again for the incorrect information!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6144684224323383686.post-90343981083470665832008-08-02T19:30:00.000-07:002008-08-02T19:30:00.000-07:00Something that has always amazed me is to see spel...Something that has always amazed me is to see spell casters running around in raid gear that don't understand the benefits of being near the Spell Hit cap. Until you reach pretty darn close to the cap, you actually benefit more from stacking Spell Hit as opposed to Spell Damage. There's math to back it up, but I'm horrendously lazy and don't want to do that here. I doubt you'd want to see the math, too!

Against a raid boss (assumed level 73 for calculations), you have a 10% chance of having the spell resist. There is always an inherent 1% chance of resist, so you need to boost your Spell Hit to 9%. That ends up being 202 Spell Hit Rating. If you're Affliction and have full Suppression, you can get by with 76 Spell Hit Rating for Affliction spells. However, if you're doing any Shadowbolt spam you'll want to get as close to the Spell Hit cap as possible. If you can consistently get an Elemental shadow with Totem of Wrath (3% increase to Spell Hit) in your group, you can get by with 164 Spell Hit Rating.

I did a huge write up of this recently on my raid's forums after a Fire mage asked a whole bunch of questions about Spell Hit. I found it a bit sad, since here he was in Black Temple running amok with Tier 6 or the equivalent and he didn't understand why having double-digit Spell Hit was so painful!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
